I can’t see much change in the wrist angle, the head moving further than the hands appears to be the way the shoulders are turning and tilting.
It is difficult to see, that is why you won’t hear many instructors talk about this. It is easiest to tell in the downswing, when the butt end of the club returns to the position it was in at address and the club is lagging 5 inches behind where it was at address. That makes it a little more obvious. You may want to go take a look at that part again. Good luck with your putting. ~Clay Ballard
Don’t take me wrong but I was waiting to hear what Steve told tiger, I had heard it was to brush the ball and not pop it, I heard this on the morning drive on the golf channel but you never talked about it even though your title had mentioned what stricken told tiger…
look up bobby jones putting
Does he talk about the same thing? ~Clay Ballard
Great video guys, really interesting, there’s a lot of misconceptions in golf about putting methods. Just keep it simple head and and hear it fall in the hole :p
I agree. Let the putter do all the work. ~Clay Ballard
Total crock, he doesn’t lag and release his hands at all, he is hinging from the shoulders, the hands stay stable….
You ay want to take another look. Notice how in the downswing the butt end of the club reaches the same point it was in at address, but the club is 4 inches farther back. Lag and release is a very stable way to putt, that is why you will see almost every single player on the PGA tour doing the same thing. I hope you drain some putts Bruce!!!
This comment is from Clay Ballard, by the way Bruce. I forgot to put my name at the end. Good Luck!
Just a note to say Thanks for this video. I’ve been playing for over 20 years, carry a high single-digit hcp. and shot a 69 yesterday (using CQ’s full-swing fundamentals) with 26 putts!! Granted, I hit a few chips close (using the same technique) for 1-putts, but have never felt as confident w/ the putter as I did using this method. One question, do I need to let the hands feel like they completely stop to release the putter-head, or just slow down?
They will only slow down to let the head release. Wverything will feel very smooth and soft. Good luck and keep up the good work!! ~Clay Ballard
Nice job. Most golfers know the importance of lag and release in a full swing but do not realize that it also applies to putting .This is how good putters control distance consistently. If done correctly you can hear and feel the difference because the ball is actually being compressed during impact.
Thanks, I couldn’t agree more. ~Clay Ballard
